The Race: Enjoy vistas of the Pacific Coast as you take a scenic tour of the spectacular Marin Headlands with views of Tiburon, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The course is a 25-mile loop. The first loop is clockwise. Then, you reverse direction to counterclockwise and alternate (washing-machine loops).

Sat, Oct 16 2010 Diablo Trail Runs Clayton, CA Mount Diablo provides spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding valleys. On a clear day, you can see the Sierra Nevada mountain range on the horizon. The course is hilly and scenic on single-track trails and dirt roads. The 25 Km course climbs to the summit (3,849 ft.) and returns to the Mitchell Canyon Trailhead. The 50 Km event does two loops to the summit. Event also includes an 8k distance.

A benefit for the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department, which protects the area where the race is run. The altitude ranges from 6,700 to 8,100 feet. The trails are mostly well-maintained single and double track, with good footing.
