It’s All About the Coffee
In Peet’s Coffee this morning there was a very Marine-looking Marine, waiting for his drink.
I overhead him talking to the barista, commenting that he couldn’t get decent coffee in Iraq and was really happy to get his first cup of Peet’s
He said:
“Democracy my ass. I was fighting for the coffee.”

As a caffeine addict, I’ll drink to that! Nice blog, just found it through Angie’s. Distance runner slowly working up to marathon and beyond.

A buddy of mine at work talked to his high school buddy who is finishing up his military career in Afghanistan … when asked if he needed anything the only thing he needed was better coffee than the military served or something to disguise the taste. My buddy sent him coffeemate and I sent him some Gevalia’s … but Peets would have been my first choice, too!

Go figure that our troops are oh-so close to some of the world’s finest black oil substance (not oil), and our guys can’t even get a decent cuppa joe.

In Praise of Coffee (Translated from Arabic)
“O Coffee! Thou dost dispel all cares, thou art the object of desire to the scholar.
