About the Company
We started ZombieRunner online in 2003, to serve the needs of trail runners, adventure

first retail store and cafe in Palo Alto, CA.
About the Chief Zombies
Don and Gillian are ultrarunners and co-owners of ZombieRunner. Don ran
his first marathon in 1998; Gillian in 1999. When they discovered even
longer races and beautiful trail venues, they were both hooked. Between
them, they have completed over 250 marathons and ultras, including the
Western States 100, Badwater, 24-hour races and multi-day runs.
Don Lundell began running in 1998, when he decided that he would train
for and run a marathon. Since then, he has run over 160 marathons and
ultra marathons throughout the United States. His accomplishments
include some of the toughest endurance runs in the country, with over a
dozen runs of 100 miles or more. He has run the Western States 100
Mile Endurance Run three times. In 2001 he completed the Grand Slam of
Ultrarunning, which consists of four rugged 100 mile races in the space
of 4 months. The races were Western States, Vermont, Leadville and
Wasatch, all of which Don was running for the first time. Don has run
several 24-hour runs, with a PR of 112 miles. In July 2003, Don
finished the Badwater Ultramarathon for the second time--135 miles
through Death Valley from Badwater to Mount Whitney. One of Don's most
creative runs was in May 2003, when he ran 114 miles to complete a
Quadruple Quadruple of the Dipsea trail.
Gillian started running in 1997. In 1999, she completed her first
marathon and became hooked on distance running, particularly runs on
trails. Since then, she has completed over 100 races ranging from the
marathon distance to 135 miles. She has run the Western States 100 Mile
Endurance Run, in addition to 100 mile races in Texas and Arkansas. She
finished first woman in the Ruth Anderson 100K in 2000 and in the Pony
Express 50K in 2002. In the FANS 24 Hour Run in 2004, Gillian placed
second with 104 miles. Gillian enjoys runs that she designs with Don.
These have included a 100 mile run on Angel Island, and running the Western States
course in reverse. Her favorite run was the 13 days that she and Don
spent running the entire Bay Area Ridge Trail, including the dedicated
trail and connecting road routes, totaling 500 miles.
Through their interaction with the running community and through their own experiences,
Don and Gillian have learned about training, racing, injury prevention
and treatment, nutrition, and more. You can find Don and Gillian in the Palo Alto store, at
races around Northern California and beyond -- running, taking photographs, volunteering.
